WALTER NYAMILANDU FOOTBALL ACADEMY LAUNCHED – Malawi News Online
The Walter Nyamilandu Football Academy has been launched, aimed at training under-15 players. The academy will run on none residential basis from Limbe Country Club, and according to Walter Nyamilandu, there will be partnerships with international scouts to come to Malawi and spot talent from the academy.
“For now, I am funding the academy and it will first be on a none residential set up. That said, we are already in the process of engaging partners to come in and help in providing resources. So we will make announcements on the status of the partners when time is right.” said Nyamilandu.
He said the academy will administered by the Foundation and the youth players will be trained by Chancy Msema as head coach with former international Joseph Kamwendo and Dan Chemisi as assistant coaches. In attendance were football stars Yamikani Chester, Mike Mkwate who were there to inspire the young players from the Academy. The launch was spiced by an exhibition match between Walter Nyamilandu Academy and Play Football Academy from Lilongwe.
“I am grateful to his Lordship Mayor of Blantyre Wild Ndipo, former Flames coach Kinnah Phiri, National Sports Council Executive Secretary Henrey Mereka, Sulom Predident Tiya Msomba and representatives from affiliate association members who graced the launch event at Chiwembe.” said Nyamilandu.
