JTI Leaf Malawi Limited has developed a mobile phone application designed to enhance interaction between growers and the company.

JTI Leaf Malawi Limited Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Limbani Kakhome, said since E-Agriculture is becoming an emerging field, focusing on enhancement extension and advisory services, it is imperative that tobacco-buying companies should invest in ICT.

“This application allows our agronomists to interact and share information with growers. Using the app, growers can access information on his or her loan performance, market outlook and prices,” he said.

On the other hand, Kakhome said that this year’s marketing season went well as the company’s growers sold their tobacco without delay. The company is currently celebrating 10 years, working closely with tobacco growers in Malawi.
