When Minister of Labour Ken Kandodo and his deputy, Vera Kamtukule, recently met the Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (Teveta), the latter outlined that levies amounting to K20 billion (and accumulating further) have not been paid.

According to the Teveta Executive Director, Wilson Nkhoma, the amount is a total of money owed since the last number of years, as the Authority is engaging the labor ministry on a payment method.

Various ministries are under pressure to pay back debts, totaling to roughly K50 billion so far. For instance, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has accumulated office rentals amounting to K13.5 billion, as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Bernard Sande, the Transport and Public Infrastructure Committee of Parliament to help in lobbying for more funding to pay for the sum.
