National Bank of Malawi (NBM) sponsored conference bags towards the Energy Generation Company (Egenco) as support towards Egenco’s 29th African Symposium.
The symposium will see energy experts, operators, contractors and more, who will be discussing and sharing under the theme; Quality for Sustainable Development in Africa.
NBM Chief Executive Officer, Mcfussy Kawawa, said the bank supported the symposium as part of commitment to see professionals in the energy sector share ideas. On the other hand, Egenco CEO, William Liabunya, said that the the attendees of the symposium will network and exchange ideas that will help in the development of power generation in the country.
Malawi is amidst reoccurred power outages, as the Economics Association of Malawi (Ecama) has stated that Treasury’s spending in the energy sector is (verbatim) too little and insignificant. Ecama therefore attributed power outages to the inadequate expenditure on the energy sector. Hopefully, the symposium, which will host 15 countries, will be fruitful and tackle the current energy crisis in Malawi.
