Malawi Scotland Partnership (MaSP) has asked for a tax waiver on its goods meant for projects here in Malawi, a proposal that is being discussed by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development.

MaSP secretariat requested for the tax waiver for smooth implementation of its projects, whose budgets are affected by tax on capital goods, to which the Director of Economic Planning and Development at the Ministry responded as reasonable, while revealing that consideration procedures where being undertaken.

British High Commissioner Holly Tett oulined how Scotland, through MaSP has supported Malawi in health, agriculture, water and sanitation and citizen participation in development activities. The proposal, if granted, will ease operations of the organization and will benefit Malawi even with a tax decrease/cancellation.
